my approach
how I work:
My goal as your therapist will be to improve your connection and alignment in four main areas of your life:
-
In therapy, this might look like:
unlearning internalized messages from diet culture
identifying somatic cues like hunger or fear
learning how your nervous system functions
accessing support through medical transition
and more!
-
In therapy this might look like:
exploring or clarifying your gender identity
unlearning internalized shame
inner child or other “parts” work
practicing emotion regulation skills
and more!
-
In therapy this might look like:
setting new boundaries with your family of origin
changing the way you approach conflicts
building a support network
understanding your attachment patterns in relationships
and more!
-
In therapy this might look like:
unpacking religious trauma
exploring a new spiritual identity
aligning your career more closely with your values
grappling with suicidal thoughts
and more!
In service of these goals, I draw from many different techniques—most frequently feminist therapy, narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems, Lifespan Integration, and somatic methodologies. I may also provide recommendations of books, podcasts, or other media that may reflect your experiences or support our work between sessions. I also use tarot as a grounding and reflective tool, and would be happy to incorporate this into our sessions if that interests you.
common issues I work with:
-
trauma and dissociation
I use a combination of somatic and narrative strategies to help clients collaborate with their nervous system to better integrate and move forward from traumatic experiences. I am also trained in Lifespan Integration, a form of therapy that facilitates integration of past memories.
-
gender dysphoria
I love helping clients explore their gender identity and presentation to feel more secure and whole in themselves.
I also use a consent-based model for surgery letters, and can provide one separate from ongoing therapy.
-
body image
I am a Certified Body Trust® provider and support an intuitive eating approach. I do not work with intentional weight loss goals.
I do not provide formal eating disorder treatment. I may refer you to an appropriate provider if your current situation requires medical monitoring.
-
ADHD
I work with clients to understand their brain, develop coping strategies, and unlearn internalized shame about being neurodivergent. I am neutral on the subject of medication, and can support you in making the choice that is right for you.
-
career issues
I am trained in career counseling and can help you figure out what career decisions may align with your values and goals.
